Christmas Snow on Electric Avenue

At 9am this morning, I found myself strolling though Brixton's Electric Avenue market while heavy snow began to fall. The shops and stalls were just setting up for the day, and everyone was in great spirits, happy see the white stuff adding a bit of Christmas spirit on the final busy weekend before December 25.

London Fog

Yes, much of the London fog you see in the movies was actually the result of smoke and pollution that's now been cleaned up, but occasionally the city still puts on a dramatic show.

Three Rainy Days, One Window

Did you know it rains a lot in England? A lot. But sometimes it looks better than any summer day.

Builder Gremlins in central London

I spotted these little builder figures painted on a work site I think on Gower Street, just North of the British Museum. I don't know if the company likes them or not, but it would be great to see more of this kind of thing on all the building sites you find in any city.

from the archives: I Love Fiji

Back in 2004, I was lucky enough to spend four nights on Nanuya Lailai, in Fiji's Yasawa Islands. That trip was probably one of the highlights of my life. It's so unique and unlike anywhere else that you feel as though you must be on another planet.

Boat of the Thames, West London

These photos are a couple of months old. I took a boat trip up the Thames, from Richmond to Ham House. It was a warm day and there was so much activity on the water.

Borough Market, London

Half Blade Runner and half Dickensian London, Borough Market is one of my favourite spots in the city. Though I usually only end up coming home with a bag full of freshly ground coffee from Monmouth, its stalls have an eclectic mix of some of the best foods the UK has to offer. All kinds of freshly grilled items for a lunch on the go too. Don't be intimidated by the crowd: that's half the fun.

Las Vegas: Daylight Hours

Unfortunately you can't take your camera where you'd really like, so here are a few mostly family friendly photos from my last few days in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas: Don't forget about the desert

You fly or drive into Vegas and marvel at the desert, but once you've landed, it's forgotten. Except for those moments when you catch mountains peeking in from down a long boulevard or, if you're lucky, seeing it wrap a ring around the city from a high window.

Sheltering from the Rain at St Martin-in-the-Fields

We got caught in the rain during an afternoon out in central London.

Around & About St. David's

This was my second trip to St. David's at the Western tip of Pembrokeshire in Wales. The cliffs, moody skies and beaches make for some dramatic landscape.

Southwold, Suffolk. New Years Eve

This one goes back a few months. Southwold around new years was great. The weather was harsh and brooding at night. Very cold. During the day the sun would break through and heat up the sand and marshes just enough to walk off a hangover.

London Underground: Embankment

There's something about tube stations. I can't help trying to get some sneaky shots done.

Rooftops, Richmond, UK

I haven't done too much nighttime photography yet, but I'm starting to like it. In a city like London the sky never gets completely dark, and the lights from shops and homes throw interesting spotlights and shadows across things. These were all taken around 10 pm.
